Marie and I do agree on a few items, my neighbor Michael being one. He’s supposed to be only my friend, not my heart’s desire. His choices mirror Marie’s dark and controlling sexual fantasies in which power is exchanged. I worked for my power. Giving mine away isn’t going to be easy even with Marie’s encouragement. But he promises me everything. Haven’t I always yearned for everything?
My demons don’t mesh well with his skeletons. They conflict and overlap to challenge my perceived strength. I thought love would make my world complete, but it may crush me down to my knees.
