While a romance, Submissive Lies is about being true to yourself. It explores how trying to be something you're not, impacts your relationships with yourself and those close to you. It is told from the viewpoint of the female protagonist who is still recovering from an emotionally scarring betrayal. We follow her story as she extracts herself from the persona she has built to protect herself.
